Here's a Quickie

Hey guys, its Larry Kelly. Here to give you finest tips to make great meals.

Sandwiches

A sandwich can serve for breakfast; lunch or a regular snack to keep you going and it comes just as cheaply as u want it to be...u just need the basics: A piece of bread and some ‘filling’.

Typically, with two slices of bread and a flat piece of meat in between, you have a sandwich.

Fortunately or unfortunately there are those like me who ALWAYS want a little added dimension to our sandwich to fine tune what we desire: aesthetics, appeal and health.

So, let’s delve into making a quick, beautiful and of course healthy sandwich.

Personally, I usually ampt for the thousand island filling; its quick and versatile.

Things you’ll need.

Bread
A bowl
Ketchup
Mayonnaise

Simple! Right? Ha! Don’t go thinking you’ll dab this and slash that to get a grand thousand island sandwich.

My special addition to the ketchup-mayonnaise duo is to squirt a little mill-pepper. Trust me this trio sets the tastes buds into a jolly with the mill-pepper setting a fine equillibrium to near perfection.

Additions like lemon juice, vinegar, salt etc. can be incorporated into the dressing. Also, for the health conscious, fresh vegetables and fruits such as tomatoes, sweet pickles, lettuce, cabbage, onions, cucumber, apples, strawberries, grapes etc. can be added. The choice is yours; make the available work for you.

Ever heard of two wrongs making it right? Neither have I! Let me change that status a bit. For those who dislike ketchep and mayonnaise (loads of Nigerian lads), the mixture of these two "wrongs" will give you right (you can only find out if you try). Remember the mill pepper for that priceless balance.

Let’s get started.

Ingredients
4 slices of bread
1 tsp ketchup
3 tsp mayonnaise
1/2 tsp mill pepper
1/2 head of lettuce, shredded (enof the cover the whole slice of bread)
1/2 bulb onions, sliced thin
2 firm medium-sized tomatoes, sliced
1lb roasted beef (suya), deli sliced

Directions
Prepare the thousand island dressing: Get a mixing bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup and mill pepper into a smooth dressing
Spread the dressing generously on all four bread slices.
Evenly layer one slice with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and then sliced onions
Top the layer with beef and then cover with another slice of dressed bread
Repeat 1-4 for other two slices of bread.

#wordsofadvice.
Stick to two or three kinds of veggies or fruits when using them for your salad.
Eat up your sandwich as soon as possible to enjoy the freshness of the fruits and veggies
You can replace beef with lean chicken or turkey or even healthier choices such as sea foods like tuna, crab meat, prawn, sardines etc.

Alas! Your sandwich is ready. Do well to serve it with a glass of warm milk and share with someone dear to you. You will be grateful for the working function of your taste buds.

How did you enjoy your sandwich? What additions did you make to get a better sandwich? Please drop your comments and share your experiences.

Cheers.
