The year has been amazing! so what now? (How to make the most of the Christmas season).

The year has indeed been long. For making it this far you deserve three hearty cheers!!, I'm sure many of us had resolutions at the beginning of the year and have only until now began to review them.

Yeah you see, I caught you there.

It’s the festive season again and those that have free time are probably planning out an itinerary to ensure that this season is as festive as it can be.

The season doesn't have to be boring you know, find ways to be creative about it. Now it makes no sense itemizing an activity for everyday till the new-year; that’s obviously gonna cost a lot of money and you might not even follow through with it all, not to mention the dismay you’d feel each time you don’t execute one.
.

I really love the Christmas season and I like to look back after the season is passed and know that there were highlights for me.

So if you want to do the same, try things differently.

1.      GET INTO THE MOOD.

The beauty of it all begins when the greetings are exchanged. As funny as it may sound, it would be wise to avoid the sarcasm we’d naturally throw in response to other greetings we’ve received all year. The people who wish us a Merry Christmas do so in all sincerity, and it is cordial for us to do so in return. Every time I hear people or I have to exchange such greetings I’m reminded of how I would like to have a Merry Christmas myself. If you or your family love the decorations, you can get to put that up, pull out the tree! it helps set the mood as well.

2.      STRATEGISE.

Now I did say not to itemize activities for each day but we can as well have a to-do list. Draw out a short list of realistic and achievable activities you might want to do this season, or before the year ends. This helps; trust me. You can think of some of the things you didn't get the chance to do earlier in the year, so why not do them now.

3.      COMPANY.

Now it’s even better when we don’t have to have all the fun alone during the season. Choose the friends that you would want to join you on this activities. Make sure you squeeze in family too.  Now it’s important to check-in with these folks, just so you go through each other’s schedule to make sure that your plans fall through. Don’t restrict your company to a certain set of people just so you don’t feel disappointed if they can’t make it.

4.      SCENERY.

I love how the city lights up in Christmas, the decorations the sights and the fireworks. To make sure to get the best of this season, make sure you see all this things I just mentioned, keep an eye out for it and just as a tip, open a folder on your laptop and title it Christmas lights 13. Then on your to-do list throw in “Take 15 picture of beautiful Christmas scenes and settings, then move this pictures to your laptop, when the season is through look at you beautiful collection.

5.      FAMILY.

It’s not every celebration in the year that all members of the family would attend, but at Christmas it’s important to make an effort to be together at some point. You could also whip-up something, you can have a movie night or games night with your cousins/siblings. Get a movie everyone would like or even music and have a little together time, you could all go out and hang somewhere. Togetherness is the theme of the season.

6.      EXCHANGE GIFTS

Now this should not chop off a huge chunk of your finance and you don’t necessarily have to give all of your friends’ gifts. Let it be heartfelt, even if it’s just your parents or elder brother or younger one that you decide to hand a gift, make sure it’s from your heart. And most crucial, try to remember those who don't have as much as you do, it could be that old beggar at the end of the street, they deserve to be loved as well.

7.      Most importantly, EAT!!!

Yes, go all out and eat… cook food, give food, receive food and eat. I personally can’t deny the thrill of a well cooked meal. And alas "Tis the season to be jolly"…  Be careful of what and where you eat tho; you know how these things are.

Enjoy yourself this season and be merry..

A merry Christmas you from us at BASIC-PULSE.
