...Stripped!

Let me indulge you a bit!

Imagine you woke up one morning, and did the things you do in the morning. You walk out of the premises of your home, and you see a friend/neighbor jogging. He smiles at you, and waves as he jogs past you. But, you can't help but just stare in shock. You are irked, but shrug off the irritation. Thing is, your neighbor was naked! Butt naked! You walk onto the main road, and to your horror, so is everyone else. They are freely going about the day in their birthday suit! Thoughts race through your mind as to the cause of the current state of madness. You look over and see a reflective source. You see your reflection, and to your mortification... You are also naked!

As uncomfortably hilarious as the preceding illustration may seem, have you ever given it a thought that that was how things were "intended" to be? At least, based on Christian and Jewish belief - as far as I know. We were created to have nothing to hide until a taste of the forbidden fruit opened us to the world that shut us from ourselves and our source.

In our current state, going about in our birthday suit to show off how genuine we can be would be completely counterproductive - useless done in the right setting. However, do give thought to  other qualities that require openness that is almost rarely seen but is required for success on a personal and professional level: honesty and integrity.

With all the so many sayings as to the benefits of honesty, you would be amazed at the number of people that make a profession from being dishonest. They pay such acute attention to detail and carry it on for a while until BAM! It’s all over because they had overlooked a minute detail that caused their mountain of lies to come crashing down. (It always lands on them and the unfortunate folks that may have been caught up in the web).

The reason something as basic as a honest attitude is neglected by most is that most people don't know how to be honest with themselves. Who can blame them? you would think they were hardwired to conform to an erring disposition of society. The best way and I think right way to perceive honesty is as something you owe yourself and not something you have to give to others. The merit of this perspective is the ease with which one begins to exhibit honesty and begins to reap the benefits of living the honest life

There are many benefits of being as completely honest as we can with ourselves, such as reduced stress, better relationships, personal growth, etc., the good thing is being honest is a skill that can be learnt and will stick once it becomes a habit.

Here are steps to help you towards being a more honest person

Set it as Goal
The beginning phases of transforming to live a honest life can be difficult. Set it as a goal to live by. Set out a duration for which you want to live honestly and take breaks to live your normal life. For example, you can set a goal to be honest for 1 day or 1 week and keep a break of 1 or 2 days to lapse. You just have to be consistent and increase the duration steadily as you progress.

Release the Past
Don't hold on to things of the past and make them a reason to keep being dishonest. Engage with your "honesty-goal" now and don't concern yourself with past occurrences. If you fear past occurrence will bring unwanted future circumstances, exercise courage with belief that will cross the future bridge with a honest mind

Don't think too much about the consequences
Thinking too much about any is stressful. Thinking up the consequences causes worry and worrying instills fear and fear is crippling and will lead to failure in you honesty pursuit. Do what you
need to do as soon a possible so you wont have to worry about it anymore.

Keep a Journal
Use a journal to monitor your progress, this creates self-awareness and will help you understand more about you.
Give yourself a treat!
When you successfully make it through your duration, pat yourself in the back and do something you love (if you love lying... that doesn't count!.. hehe..)
Abraham Lincoln said no man has good enough memory to make a successful lair. Start today to live the surely successful life of honesty...

Cheers...
